The only thing better than OK GO…
Is OK GO on treadmills. What they lack in video production, they make up in choreography.

Heard “50 Ways…” on the way in this morning so I put on his latest album “Surpise” which is so good. But there’s a song at the end that I had never heard before but I guess was nomited for an Oscar a few years ago for being on a Rugrats The Wild Thornberrys soundtrack. Anyhow, it’s called “Father and Daughter” but it I think of Jack everytime I hear it and always hits me the same way.
Father and Daughter
by Paul SimonIf you leap awake
In the mirror of a bad dream
And for a fraction of a second
You can’t remember where you are
Just open your window
And follow your memory upstream
To the meadow in the mountain
Where we counted every falling starI believe the light that shines on you
Will shine on you forever
And though I can’t guarantee
There’s nothing scary hiding under your bed
I’m gonna stand guard
Like a postcard of a Golden Retriever
And never leave till I leave you
With a sweet dream in your headI’m gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you’ll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love youTrust your intuition
It’s just like going fishing
You cast your line
And hope you’re getting a bite
But you don’t need to waste your time
Worrying about the market place
Try to help the human race
Struggling to survive its harshest nightI’m gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you’ll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love youI’m gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you’ll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love you

Hey Luke Wilson
The Dan come down hard on Owen Wilson in an open-letter to his brother Luke. I’m surprised they couldn’t agree on The Royal Tenenbaums (the other Wes Anderson movie that the Wilsons don’t have to be ashamed of).
Best. Open-letter. Ever.

As promised NBC has started offering the webisodes for The Office. As advertised, it shows the accountants (Angela, Kevin and Oscar) discovering that money is missing from the company account and they are going to find it.
Not sure what’s funnier though, the webisodes or the FedEx/Kinkos commercial that plays before each episode. That’s more like my workplace for sure…

This is more of a reminder for myself but I’m sure there are a lot of parents out there that would like this.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the summer, Regal Cinemas will show G and PG movies that you can take the kids to for free. Tickets are first come/first served on the day of the movie. It’s not a bad lineup either. In WNY, the Transit Regal is showing the following:
| 06/27-06/28 | Doogal (G) Zathura (PG) |
| 07/04-07/05 | Curious George (G) Shrek 2 (PG) |
| 07/11-07/12 | Jonah: A Veggie Tale Movie (G) Are We There Yet? (PG) |
| 07/18-07/19 | Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron (G) Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (PG) |
| 07/25-07/26 | Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (G) Robots (PG) |
| 08/01-08/02 | Polar Express (G) Scooby Doo 2 (PG) |
| 08/08-08/09 | Clifford’s Really Big Movie (G) Racing Stripes (PG) |
| 08/15-08/16 | March Of The Penguins (G) Cheaper By The Dozen (PG) |
| 08/22-08/23 | Wallace & Gromit (G) Madagascar (PG) |

I put this list together as joke for my job so that the QA department could test a Top 10 List manager I worked on. Some of the albums are a little old (some aren’t even out yet!) and it’s in no particular order but I thought I’d share it with you. All of the records are stellar and worth the money….
1. Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise
2. The Editors - The Back Room
3. Rogue Wave - Descended Like Vultures
4. Built To Spill - You In Reverse
5. Wolf Parade - Apologies To The Queen Mary
6. Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene
7. The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics
8. Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings The Flood
9. 31 Knots - The Curse Of The Longest Day
10. Aloha - Some Echoes (I’m actually not that fond of this one but their last 3 records earned them a spot on this list)

I’m such a sucker when it comes to Google. I instantly grab anything they push out, install it and figure out what it is later. I must admit though, things like the Deskbar, Desktop Search, Google Updater, Google Home Page (the customizable one), GMail (need an invite?), AdSense, Toolbar (IE and FF) and I’m sure a few others are things I use everyday and could not live without. A few others, like Google Reader and Google Pages didn’t have me coming back again.
I just can’t figure out Google Reader. It’s almost like Google knows the best way to read RSS feeds and is trying to teach me and I’m just not getting it. It’s useless to me. Google Pages is pretty nifty but it is what it is, a simple way to create simple pages at a simple URL. You can see my Google Page over here.
But after months of waiting, I finally got my invite to Google Analytics and I IMMEDIATELY added it to wnymusic.com. I’m not really sure what it will do for me, I never really cared much about stats… I know I get a lot of hits, yada yada. Some people have balked at my numbers but I don’t make this stuff up - they’re just haters who constantly worry about stats. Not me.
Maybe this will change now that i have a slick interface to watch it all go down in real time. Looks like they have some version of Urchin on steroids but it’s layed out in typical Google fashion; no fancy graphics or fonts, just the data you need, where you’d expect it.
Now if I could just get my freaking Yahoo Mail Beta invite, I’d be happy!

18 years after the first time I saw the Circle Jerks in concert (1985 at Buffalo State College), I saw them again and eventhough they played pretty well, I was left unimpressed by their political rants and basic attitude towards the audience. We were half way into this Iraqi conflict and you really got the impression that the people at the show just wanted to rock out and support the troops. And NOT stand around bashing them.
I was actually more impressed by GBH who opened the show. If they have any original members that would be amazing. They may have had more than 1, I’m not really sure, but the energy was there and they just wanted to be PFR. And they were.
Fast forward to tonight when I check out OnDemand on the ole’ cable box. I was thinking about it this afternoon and how every once in a while something good pops up. A couple of months back there was a REALLY great Doves live concert FOR FREE. Can’t beat that.
But what did I find tonight? You guessed it, a live concert of the Circle Jerks playing at some House Of Blues for $9.95. And maybe that’s not a bad thing, I’m not accusing them of of selling or anything, they deserve to be paid for entertaining people - I just wished they had entertained me last time. Apparently this is in support of a new DVD they have out.
You can also get Iggy & The Stooges for $10 or get some real entertainment with the Drive By Truckers for $4. Spend your money wiselfy (yet foolishly).
