Heard “50 Ways…” on the way in this morning so I put on his latest album “Surpise” which is so good. But there’s a song at the end that I had never heard before but I guess was nomited for an Oscar a few years ago for being on a <strike>Rugrats</strike> The Wild Thornberrys soundtrack. Anyhow, it’s called “Father and Daughter” but it I think of Jack everytime I hear it and always hits me the same way.

Father and Daughter
by Paul Simon

If you leap awake
In the mirror of a bad dream
And for a fraction of a second
You can’t remember where you are
Just open your window
And follow your memory upstream
To the meadow in the mountain
Where we counted every falling star

I believe the light that shines on you
Will shine on you forever
And though I can’t guarantee
There’s nothing scary hiding under your bed
I’m gonna stand guard
Like a postcard of a Golden Retriever
And never leave till I leave you
With a sweet dream in your head

I’m gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you’ll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love you

Trust your intuition
It’s just like going fishing
You cast your line
And hope you’re getting a bite
But you don’t need to waste your time
Worrying about the market place
Try to help the human race
Struggling to survive its harshest night

I’m gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you’ll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love you

I’m gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you’ll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love you

Well, things have been going very smoothly so far…we saw the good doctor last week and he actually moved our due date up 9 days from November 21 to November 12 – which is cool. I put up 3 scans of some sonogram pics I managed to get my hands on. You can see them here. November 12th is also Neil Young and Grace Kelly’s birthday, which is nice.

Check out the link over there on the left, the baby registry is now online. Baby Jack needs stuff so don’t be shy (or cheap).

But the big news today was the “Kick”. After weeks of waiting for the baby to kick for the first time, it finally happened! And they told us it would happen this week too. And we’re about to leave to see everybody’s favorite, James Taylor. Another great day.
